Music Recommendation - Kacy Crowley / Anchorless

If you didn’t know, I have a series of technical blogs that I post in regards to the design of FileMaker database (an area I specialize in). In the years between 2000 and 2005, I self published a series of technical guides that are a little out of date now. My series of technical blogs is basically a rewrite of those guides one topic at a time.

Anyway, I was posting an article I wrote many years ago about picking random passwords based upon the first work of a favorite music CD (Making Up Unique Passwords). The CD I picked was Kacy Crowley, Anchorless. That was a heavy favorite of mine at the time. I decided to dust it off and give it a listen.

So that was about two weeks ago and I’ve listened to the CD again almost every day since then. I highly recommend it if you are in the mood for some throaty, white chick angst in your day. I’m not sure when she released her new cd but it is available for purchase from Amazon. I picked up the mp3 copy from there but I haven’t really gotten into it yet. It just doesn’t seem to live up to Anchorless for me.

Listening to these tunes brought back a slew of pleasant memories of my time in Austin Texas. I got to see Kacy perform a few times in a venue called Songwriters In The Round in a little place within a stones throw of Zilker Park. Very excellent, but I’m afraid that Austin Texas isn’t around anymore. Due mostly to the desire to grow, seems like I’m always hitting a place at its sweet spot and then having to leave as it grows past a point I’m comfortable with. Hence, my latest unemployed status after leaving my developer position with SolutionMakers.

In both cases, it broke my heart to leave SolutionMakers and Austin because I was so into each of them.

The same thing seems to be happening to my home in Snohomish Washington. Seattle seems to be determined to ruin this quaint little area as more and more real estate professionals try to build more and skyrocket the price of real estate. Nationwide you here reports of the real estate collapse but that is not the case here. Traffic is getting worse all the time, you literally have to deal with gridlock in the areas where you are trying to “get away from it all” and that is very disheartening.

Anyway .... if you are curious about these tunes that have inspired this “off the beaten track” rant, go to Amazon/iTunes and give Anchorless a trial listen.
