Federation Forest State Park Trail

We did a couple trails from the 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles Of Seattle book today and this was the first excursion. A terrific old growth forest alongside the White River Valley. I know it sounds silly but I really loved how many uprooted old growth trees there were with the entire root network base.

The trail is about 4 miles long and crosses WA 410. It is a very relaxing hike!

One reason I choose to do this was because of the listed Hobbit village. It really wasn’t like that, it was more like a gnome village with dollhouse sized exhibits. Very fun and enlightening, a very welcome break from the beauty of the trail.

The Interpretive Center was supposed to be closed but some of it was open for us. We looked around and read many of the displays. Here is a couple pictures from inside the center.
