March Sunday On Centennial Trail

The 10 day forecast for the greater Snohomish area was rain, rain and then ... more rain. Since that was the forecast yesterday, the sun came out today. This morning it was ... is the sun going to come out today. About noon, it looked good enough for the wonder dog and I to head out. We thought about getting on Centennial Trail somewhere around the Granite Falls trailhead. There was still significant gray in the sky, we bailed out at the Snohomish trailhead.

We started off at the very beginning of the trail and had barely gone 1/2 a mile before we saw deer in the houses below the trail. This part of the trail has a nice little 20 or 30 foot ledge to some houses below. There were four deer in total, with two of them fawns. One of the fawns was prancing around with ... what I can only imagine as ... their version of the snoopy dance. My camera sucks, will be upgrading soon. Something just below the SLR range for this go around.

Just a little farther down, about 1.25 miles into the trail. Bogie had a shy little buddy come along. A very funny and quite agile guy would come right up to bogie from behind and then immediately back away about 10 feet. This was very amusing to watch.

We got down to about the 3 mile mark and noticed a few places to take some pictures of the Snohomish river. It is up quite a bit but nothing too alarming yet.

Here we are at the three mile marker and we reached it so quickly, I had not realized it. I have a ton of stuff to get done at the casa, so decided to head back. Then the sun came out and it was magnificent. So I stopped by Albertsons for some Henry Weinhard Belgium Style Wheat Ale. Felt really good at the house, apologized to the wonder dog and went for a quick 3 mile jog by myself.

Then hit up the Wii, I’m almost to my 2 week goal. I might be able to hit sub-200 by the end of April. I’m even no longer considered Obese by my Wii. I’m just overweight. My idea weight is 7 pounds under my wrestling weight in high school. Haven’t seen that weight since the Bangles still had hit on the charts.

Trail Hike For Lunch At Saint Edwards

Had a client cancel a three hour training session, so took the opportunity to get a trail hike in at St. Edwards. The some of the outer trails around the park were pretty muddy going down. I only fell on my ass once but it was an epic two footer in the air type. Bogie looked at me right afterwards, as if to say “Dude, that is just one of the reasons I do this on all fours.”

Headed To Fred’s In Snohomish For A Beer

Really like what some bloggers are doing these days with quick little camera phone pictures of what trivial little things they did / doing. Here is a few quick pics from my iPhone for last nights beer/burger infusion. One of them is a total mistake but fitted with the overall theme. I’ll leave it up to you to figure out which one.

Centennial Trail For Lunch

I had to run a check down to the bank and it was a beautiful day. So Bogie and I jumped on to Centennial Trail at the Machias trailhead for quick walk. These are pictures down by the Pilchuck Creek. There is still snow on the ground at the house and it was 50 degrees at the trail ... with only 10 miles in between. You got to love the micro climates of the Pacific Northwest!

March Snow After The Puppy Cut

Less than 24 hours after we gave Bogie a puppy cut via a lovely warm day in the back yard, we got snow. Still the sun has been out each day and the crisp air is invigorating. Will take a dozen of these days versus the gray & rainy March days we had in 2008!

Bogie Turns Into A Puppy Cut Lion

Well, my mutt ... aka wonder dog ... decided this week he was going to loose a few pounds via shedding. I’ve been through this before, so off for a puppy cut ... stat! Hooked up with his previous groomer and she came out to the casa to do him onsite. This was the first time I’ encountered dog grooming “up close and personal”. I never realized how much work it was!

Yeah, he didn’t have that gleeful look very long. However, he was great overall!

About 1/2 the way through the process!

Halfway through the process, needs a bath before the final cut session.

The shave is on!

Yeah, a last minute game time decision to allow Bogie to keep is mane of hair. “So hello .... ladies... “
