Saturday At Rattlesnake Ledge
We heard that Sunday was going to be awful (and it was), so we decided to try to get in one hike in this weekend. Brenda wanted to to try her hand at some elevation and we headed out to Rattlesnake Ledge. As it turned out, her boots were simply awful on hard snow/ice mixtures. So we stopped shot of the summit. In January, you take what you are given and we enjoyed getting out of the house.
As always, started off with a few photo shots at the lake.
The first large stick that Brenda found to help her through the ice pack. I felt bad, my boots had no problem at all.
Not quite the same view as at the summit but this was nice.
Here you can see at bit of a dog jam, more dogs than I expected on the trail. That always makes it nice and everyone was very well behaved.
Heading back, at some points the ice storm damage was both amazing and heartbreaking.
We stopped by Squak Mountain State Park on the way back and did a quick little forest hike. Just like Rattlesnake Ledge, lots of damage from last weeks ice storm.
